I had the opportunity to facilitate an experimental observational drawing workshop with Spring Community Hub at United Reform Church in Camberwell, London on Tuesday 28th May. This was part of the Spring Community Hub’s holiday activity camps during the May half term for young people.

Participants were working from a series of abstract and experimental drawing prompts. They used these prompts to help them generate a variety of different observational drawings of things observed around them.

The aim of the workshop was a focus on not limiting yourself to draw a perfect copy of what you observe. To build confidence in drawing in public spaces. To be experimental in how they drew and what they used to draw. To independently go on their own external trips of observational drawing. And to generate a range of drawings that contributed to their own personal portfolios.
